Leading interior fit-out firm choose VJ iStore as part of their commitment to sustainability.

CCL Interiors Ltd, a specialist interior fit-out contractor, was awarded the tender for the installation of partitions and ceilings at the Loft Lines development in Belfast. Using VJ iStore®, a service powered by Opus, CCL contractors are able to kept fully stocked on site with their most needed fixings and consumables, all whilst reducing supply chain emissions and delivery mileage.

About CCL Interiors

CCL Interiors were established in 1974 by Shaw Montgomery senior under the name Contract Ceilings Ltd. Originally specialising in the installation of suspended ceilings in Belfast, over time, they expanded into a wider range of interior fit-out solutions and construction services. By 2012 they had rebranded as CCL Interiors to reflect their new growth and geographic markets served.

The Challenge

CCL were in tender to receive a contract at the Loft Lines development in Belfast. This project required the installation of partitions and ceilings at the 778 sustainable home development. A key consideration for CCL was being able to maintain constant supply of building consumables to keep up with the demand of such a large site, without the operational and environmental impact of daily deliveries.

The Solution

In November 2024 CCL installed a VJ iStore®, the unique, onsite procurement solution from VJ Technology, designed to reduce costs, improve cashflow and productivity, whilst limiting the impact of deliveries on the environment.

The secure by design VJ iStore® is powered by the patented Opus software from Sellfware Technology Ltd, the software arm of VJ Technology Group.

Opus brings a warehouse to any construction site (literally) in bespoke modular shipping containers to act as vending machines, so fast-paced infrastructure projects can be fed a constant supply of their most used products that can be clicked and collected in a matter of minutes directly on-site at the point of need.

Products are available 24/7 which in turn increases productivity significantly and are only paid for once they have been collected, positively impacting cashflow. It is replenished once every 10 to 14 days as managed by the active stock control system resulting in reduced emissions from daily deliveries to site. Other benefits include: reduction in process cost; 24/7 access to products, reduced loss, and theft from busy sites; no delivery delays; less issues with site restrictions for deliveries.

The VJ iStore® has been a complete game changer! By streamlining procurement and delivery times, it has significantly reduced costs and saved us precious time. The ability to access materials on-site, quickly and efficiently, has made all the difference in keeping our project running smoothly.

The Results

  • Environmental Impact: CCL has been able to maintain its commitment to its sustainability strategy by minimising supply chain emissions and delivery service mileage.  Using an Opus-secure container has resulted in a reduction in deliveries, whilst maintaining a high level of customer service. This simple but effective approach aligns with CCL’s commitment to reducing their own but also the supply chain carbon footprint.

  • Product Availability: The solution enables 300 leading items to be held on site for use by CCL. Items are easily accessible for contractors, eliminating delays and keeping the project on schedule, plus it also reduces back-office work for the procurement team.
